1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 – 427 Big Block – Automatic – Vintage Air

Here’s a great-looking true 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS that combines classic Super Sport styling with the added punch of a freshly built 427ci big-block V8.

This Chevelle was originally equipped with a 396ci big-block and retains its SS identity, but today it is powered by a built 427ci Chevrolet V8. The engine build was completed in 2024 and has approximately 500 miles on it since completion. A substantial collection of receipts accompanies the car documenting the engine build and work performed.

The 427 is backed by an automatic transmission, making this Chevelle easy to cruise while still delivering plenty of big-block power when you put your foot into it. It is also equipped with power steering and power brakes.

Originally finished in Turquoise, the car has since been refinished in Silver, which looks fantastic against the black SS stripes, black interior, chrome trim and SS-style wheels. The body presents very well, with the unmistakable stance and profile that makes the ’69 Chevelle one of the most recognizable muscle cars ever built.

Inside is a clean black bench-seat interior with the classic SS dash and steering wheel. A Vintage Air climate-control system has been added and is currently blowing cold A/C, making this a muscle car you can actually enjoy during the summer months. An aftermarket Kenwood stereo and additional gauges have also been installed.

Under the hood, the 427 features an aluminum intake, performance ignition, aluminum valve covers, headers and a dressed-up engine compartment. The exhaust exits through a dual system with Flowmaster mufflers, giving the car the deep big-block sound it deserves without taking away from its street-friendly character.

Underneath, this Chevelle is solid and presentable for a driver, and we are not seeing fluid leaks underneath the car. The photos show a largely honest underside rather than one that has simply been freshly coated to hide everything. The exhaust, rear differential and driveline are all readily visible.
